Introduction

A complete refurbishment and extension of an existing ruin, combining the restoration of the original structure with the creation of a new area. The project establishes a relationship between the existing building and the extension, balancing the identity of the whole with the needs of a new use.

The challenge

Restoring the existing ruin and integrating the extension, reconciling the original building's characteristics with a functional and coherent layout for the whole.

The approach

The design combines refurbishment of the existing area with the creation of new spaces. The connection between the two parts seeks to create continuity and balance the identity of the original building with the extension, treating the whole as an integrated composition.
