Introduction
The project involves refurbishing three residential buildings at Freydordstr 3, 5 and 7. Built around 1895 as part of the former Grenadier barracks, they belong to a protected heritage ensemble. The work seeks to adapt the homes to present-day needs while preserving their architectural value and existing building elements.
The challenge
Reconciling the reorganisation of the homes with heritage conservation, respecting the original structures and the various alterations made to each building over time.
The approach
The work was planned in stages, starting with building no. 5, where earlier changes to the interior layout facilitate the works while meeting the conservation requirements of the ensemble.
